Oops I don't know about the cost for patching of tyre. It turned out that my tyre valve was spoilt instead and couldn't seal the air in. Replacing that took a couple of minutes and $20.

My wife's car just had a warning about the tyre pressure. Went to the petrol station to pump up the tyres. Front tyres filled up with no problem. Back tyres after a few seconds started to hiss at the nozzle and valve. I thought there was some problem with the valves, so searched the web for a late night tyre shop. Saw this thread and went to City tyres. The guy there told me that there is a charge of $6 per tyre. They jacked it up and told me that there was a previous patch and that it was leaking and couldn't be repaired. They also told me that the other tyre was a bit worn. They told me that I have to change them.
At this stage, I was getting suspicious. I just asked them how much it cost. One guy went to check. He came back and said that he does not have stock and then said I could repatch the old puncture with 2 rubbers, but they charge by the rubber used. One rubber cost $15 ! So 2 will cost $30 for a patch.
I then refused. I paid them $12 for just jacking up the car and having alook. I had agreed prior to them checking so I paid.. To make it official, I asked for a receipt. To my horror, he said that for a receipt, they have to charge me $10 per tyre!
To cut the story short , DON'T GO TO CITY TYREs unless you are desperate. The workers there are dishonest!

They try to do 2 patch which cannot work, then charge me $15 to change to spare. In the end have to change tyre at another place the next day
Their worm patch is $15 per piece.

So go only if really no choice one...

Just curious, at what hour were you there and is it on a weekend or weekday?
To be fair, according to MOM ppl working overtime has to be paid 1.5x their normal working hours, on a weekend it will be 2.0x. So from 5pm onwards all the way to 3am the boss will have to pay his workers at the OT rates, on weekends it's even more. If you think they are dishonest you can always got to CASE and make a complaint. If you are expecting normal rates dan go at normal business hours. These ppl are not robots, while others are resting and relaxing at home after work hours these ppl are working for that extra OT money. If yours is not an emergency case you can always choose not to go for their service. That's just the labour we are talking about. There's also the after hours running costs. You got to weigh your expectations against what's going on around you.

I went there at about 9pm today(Wednesday).
As I said, I agreed to the charge($6) prior to them checking the car but it was ridiculous that if I wanted to have a receipt, they wanted $10 per tyre.
My guess is, they probably pocket the $12 I gave them.
Never will I go to them again.
I will go to my trusted Eunos tyre shop. Very reasonable man. Rotate tyres and balancing only $6 per tyre. He also sells Kumho at a very reasonable price.

let me digest your message or experience and share my personal POV
first the tyre pressure warning light appeared : you did the right thing to fill air at comfortable time
searching help from Web is modern way of self help
they charged $6 per pc to check I think is Fair (would you think fair not to pay them when labour work is rendered?)
tyre was previously plugged is true that can not be repair using the same Plug method because you only make the hole bigger which is already enlarged during last plug repaired (they were correct so far)
they said your the other tyre also a bit worn (you can see it by yourself) is for your good always replace with 2 tyre
they came back to you they have no stock
they can back said could patch for you is for your good and bad (good is at least they tried for you, Bad is they shouldn't re patch as mentioned )
Charge $15 per rubber is fair but subsequence rubber on same tyre I think is a little not fair (you should have ask before hand or any prices chart displaced?)
you refuse the $30 for 2 rubber (good job if you not agreed)
you willing to pay $12 as agreed (gentleman
$10 per tyre for Official receipt instead of $6 per tyre no receipt
may be you can give a ring to Office management about this issue see what they say
I can say is helping or killing up to you
I always ask for referral or Authorised (may not be the best for some)
Just MHO

I think the issue here is that the worker said $12 ($6 x 2) for jacking the car up and checking the 2 tyres, but no receipt was issued for this service. He wanted a receipt for it, and the worker said it will cost $20 ($10 x 2) if he wants an official receipt.
I don't think he had any issues with the prices, just surprised the price changed when he asked for an official receipt...
