  • Coral Level at Iberostar Punta Cana

We upgraded to Coral Level at Iberostar Punta Cana for two weeks in September. The vacation was outstanding. The infinity seaside pool was fabulous. The highlight of our stay was reconnecting to our old friend , Jose, who was our beach servant before Covid. For two weeks, Jose was there for all our needs. Whether it was bringing us a bucket of Presidente beer to our beachfront bed, or freshening our towels during the day. One day, Jose noticed that my wife was exposed to the sun. Joes rolled over a heavy umbrella to shield her from the rays. Iberostar would do well to keep this young man in its employment. We hope to see Jose again in January when we book another two weeks at this outstanding resort! Bravo, Iberostar… 👏👏👏

  • Coral Level is not worth the extra money

I'm a big fan of Iberostar. I stayed at the Riviera Maya resort three times. So when we decided to go to Punta Cana, I went with Iberostar. We decided to upgrade to Coral Level. It was not worth the money. With Coral Level, we were slightly closer to the beach, but it wasn't very much closer. There were two private pools, but there is nothing stopping anyone else from using those pools. And there is a separate restaurant, El Faro, which is beach front. Only problem is that it closed during our stay. They are under renovations for the next two months. In addition, the service at check-in was TERRIBLE! They refused to give us all of our restaurant reservations. When we did get a few reservations, when we went to the restaurant, we weren't on their list. Every night there was a problem with our restaurant reservations. Also, I asked for bottled water. The water filters at Iberostar still make make me sick. I knew this from Riviera Maya. They said they would get me bottled water (I didn't mind paying for it), but that never happened. Thank you to Jaime and Montero at the Bavaro for actually going to get me water. Yes, I had to ask the concierge at the adjacent hotel to get bottled water. So paying for the upgrade to Coral Level was a waste of money. The food was ok, nothing exciting. The desserts were not very flavorful, kind of bland. Event he drinks were difficult because there is a language barrier (I understand, I'm used to going to foreign countries), but there was no drink menu, no real suggestions from the bartender. In Riviera Maya, there were drink meus and many different suggestions from the bartenders for unique drinks. That just wasn't the case here. Most of our servers were very nice. But on the first dinner at the buffet, I got hit on by our server, asked if I was married. It made it very awkward for the remainder of the our meals in the buffet - which were often because the the front desk screwed up our restaurant reservations. One other problem was the entertainment, or lack of. There were nights when there was no show scheduled at the theater. There were days when there no games at the pool, no music either. It was very different than I was used to with Iberostar. There were some really good things about the resort. Housekeeping was excellent! Our server at the pool, Edwin, was awesome! The grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained. Overall, we had a good vacation, but I definitely won't return this resort. And it has made me second-guess whether or not I'll ever stay at another Iberostar.

  • Pleasant stay

We stayed at the Coral for 2 weeks in Jul 2022. Overall it was an enjoyable vacation, and I think Coral upgrade was worth it because of separate breakfast/lunch buffet and separate beach area. It's a nice clean resort with well-kept grounds, but there is room for improvement. About the language: few employees understand English, but then again: we are visitors in THEIR country and should probably learn some basic Spanish =) Check-in Coral Level check-in is done at the Coral Lobby - not the main lobby where airport buses and taxis drop you off; however, not everyone at the main lobby knows that and so confusion ensues. After a cart finally took us to the Coral lobby, the check-in process was smooth. What they don't tell you at check-in: you get 2 hrs/person of spa time (inside/outside pools, sauna, steam room) as part of your Coral stay. I found that out from other Tripadvisor reviewers and spa staff later confirmed it. . Room Rooms are well-designed and large, with a balcony that has chairs and a drying rack. No door between sink and shower areas, so the floor gets wet. Beds are comfy but covered in cheap sheets. Chairs are dated, with very worn-out fabric. None of the negatives were a big deal though. The thing that did bother us a lot was the level of humidity inside the room: it was impossible to sleep at times... bed sheets, clothes, and towels felt permanently damp. An old dehumidifier was brought into our room 2 days before we left, but it only worked for 2 hrs and leaked all over the floor. Pools Two pools for Coral clients only is definitely a plus. The one close to the beach seemed busier and chairs were always "claimed" early in the morning. Beach July is not the best time to swim in the sea since it's sargassum season. The beach was covered in sargassum pretty much every day, and there was plenty of it floating in the water, too. I spent time in the water regardless (tip: don't wear a light-coloured bathing suit, lol). The tractor crew did try to clean the mess daily. Coral beach is nicer than Selection as the chairs are more spread out - although you do have to get up early in the morning to claim a decent spot. About beach sellers: they are always there, so if not interested, say No - they get the point eventually. Entertainment The pool/beach team was awesome, but entertainment at the main stage - hit and miss. Cirque du Soleil was great! Singers - sometimes good, sometimes average. We found that Iberostar Dominicana next door always had better singers than Selection. And yes, you can wander from one Iberostar resort to another (Coral, Selection, Dominicana, Punta Cana) - except the Grand. You can also shop at other Iberostar resorts and I think get drinks too? Entertainment and exercise schedules can be viewed on the Iberostar app; the same info is also available at the big Coral lobby touchscreen. Food El Faro and the French restaurant were our favourites: we liked both the food and service. Japanese restaurant was entertaining, but the dishes prepared in front of you, albeit tasty, are not really Japanese. Mediterranean restaurant needs better waiters and chefs: a waiter removed my dirty utensils and then brought them back - still dirty; chicken was dry as a shoe. Breakfast and lunch at El Faro: variety was great, something for everyone. Breakfast tip: if you ask for coffee from the machine, chances are it will be stronger and taste better. Drinks were fine, just say you want top shelf alcohol at the bar. Mom did get sick on our 2nd or 3rd day at the resort... was it food? dirty utensils? - who knows. I also felt a bit sick on the last day, but I am partially vaccinated with Dukoral, which may be the reason I did not feel as unwell as my mom. Anyways, bring medicine just in case. Service This is where I feel this place stands out - in a good way. A big thank you to all staff that made our stay better! The hostesses at El Faro, Anahay and Ana - pleasant and courteous and always greet you with a smile :) Great service from Delmis at El Faro - a very friendly, happy lady - felt like we were talking to an old friend :) Neftali, also at El Faro, made sure we had coffee in the morning at all times. A polite young man, Miguel, was our waiter at the French restaurant and helped me with my unruly escargots, haha. Ramon, our beach waiter, was awesome. The room cleaning ladies were never intrusive and always polite. And last but not least, Benedicta at the Coral lobby front desk: when Sunwing screwed up our flights, she called Sunwing herself and sorted out our extended stay in the room, which was very much appreciated! The Sunwing rep that comes to the main lobby every morning at 9 am had NO knowledge of 11 hr flight delay and wanted us to go to the airport at the originally scheduled time, so Sunwing customers: beware.

What are the different levels at Iberostar?

Iberostar has a four-tier rating system for all of its resorts: the Grand Collection, Premium Gold, Premium, and Standard.

When was Iberostar Selection Bávaro built?

Iberostar fans have a new property to enjoy in the DR. Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, which last year celebrated its 25th anniversary of operations in the Dominican Republic, announced the reopening of the Iberostar Selection Bávaro, the hotel that spearheaded Iberostar's operations internationally in 1993.

Does Iberostar Punta Cana have a swim

Iberostar Grand Bavaro Hotel This adults-only all-inclusive resort is the most luxurious Iberostar in Punta Cana (there are four). The three pools all have chic daybeds, but only one has the swim-up bar.

Does Iberostar Dominicana have a swim

The Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro is a luxury adults-only oasis, with three pools, including one with a swim-up bar that's arguably one of the best places to be on the property. It's just steps from the beach and surrounded by shaded sunbeds when you need a break from the water.
