How to update your email signature in gmail

You can customize the email signature that appears automatically at the bottom of every email you send.

  1. Go to Settings

     > Mail, then tap Signature (below Composing).

  2. Tap the text field, then edit your signature.

    You can only use text in your Mail signatures.

Tip: If you have more than one email account, tap Per Account to set a different signature for each account.

You can choose a signature to automatically add to messages you send.

  1. In the Mail app

    on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Signatures.

  2. Select an account in the left column.

  3. Click the Choose Signature pop-up menu, then choose a signature.

    If you have more than one signature for an account, Mail can automatically alternate between them — choose At Random or In Sequential Order from the pop-up menu.

If you want to stop having a signature automatically added to your messages, click the Choose Signature pop-up menu, then choose None.

Note: A signature isn’t automatically added to messages you send from a unique, random address created with Hide My Email.

Whether it’s a new job title (congratulations!) or a phone number change, make sure you keep your email message signature up-to-date. 

  1. Click File > Options > Mail > Signatures

  2. Click the signature you want to edit, and then make your changes in the Edit signature box.

  3. When you're done, select Save > OK.

  1. Open Gmail in your browser (we're using Chrome for this example) by typing “mail.google.com” in the address bar.

  2. Click the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and select “See all settings” from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the “General” tab, scroll down to find the ”Signature” section.

  4. Click on “+ Create New”, insert the internal name of your signature then select “Create.”

  5. Type your signature into the box provided or paste it directly from HubSpot’s Email Signature Generator. You can use basic HTML formatting here, such as bold or italics.

  6. Once you're happy with your signature, choose when you want it to appear by navigating to “Signature Defaults.” Use the dropdown menus under “FOR NEW EMAILS USE” and “ON REPLY/FORWARD USE” then select your signature or “No signature”.

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click ”Save Changes.”

  8. That's it! Your signature will now be automatically inserted to the end of any emails you send from Gmail.

No. If you're using the Gmail mobile app, you'll need to use a different method. You can only add text via the mobile signature.
