Members credit union mobile deposit funds availability

  1. Check Cashing & Check Holds Policy

The credit union may delay the availability of checks deposited until the second business day after the day of your deposit. Checks deposited may be held for a period of four business days available on the 5th business day after the date of deposit for these reasons:

  • We believe a check you deposit will not be paid.
  • Check deposits total more than $6,500 on any one (1) day.
  • You redeposit a check that has been returned unpaid.
  • You have overdrawn your account repeatedly in the last 6 months.
  • If an emergency condition beyond the control of Members 1st occurs where the suspension of payment from another institution occurs.
  • There is an emergency, such as failure of communications or computer equipment.

Regardless of the above circumstances, in all cases the first $250 of all deposits will be made available the day of deposit.

If the funds are deposited to a new account (for new member) that is less than 30 days old, all funds deposited will be available on the 5th business day after the date of deposit. The first $6,500 of the day’s total deposits will be available on the next business day that we receive your deposit of the following items (other than a U.S. Treasury check) deposited in person. The excess over $6,500 will be available on the second business day after the day of your deposit. If not made in person to one of our employees, the first $6,500 will not be available until the second business day after the day of your deposit. Funds from all other check deposits will be available on the fifth business day after the day of your deposit.

Funds granted next day availability includes:

  • U.S. Treasury Checks.
  • U.S. Postal Money Orders, Federal Reserve and Federal Home Loan Bank Checks.
  • Checks drawn by a state or local unit of government in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Cashiers and Certified Checks (certain restrictions may apply based on drawer bank and your account relationship with us).

This policy does not apply to check deposits made through Mobile Deposit.

Deposited funds using Remote Deposit Capture will be credited to your account with a 2 business-day hold, unless the deposit requires further review by DMCU, which may delay the funds availability.

THE HASSLE-FREE WAY TO DEPOSIT CHECKS.

With the convenience of direct deposit, very seldom do we receive paper checks anymore. In the instance you do receive one, there is the dreaded task of finding time to get to your nearest bank or credit union to cash or deposit it. Often times, it can take days, weeks or sometimes even months to get around to depositing your check. 

With MCCU's Mobile Check Deposit, the hassle of depositing paper checks just got more convenient. If you can take a picture, you can deposit a check, with mobile check deposit. It’s easy and encrypted for security. Try it for yourself: 

  • Log into MCCU-Mobile on your smartphone.
  • (Downloading and logging into MCCU-Mobile is required. If you don’t have MCCU-Mobile on your phone, click here for instructions.)
  • Select 'Deposit a Check' from the menu bar.
  • Accept the disclosure.
  • Select an account to deposit the funds to.
  • Sign the back of your check and write: "For mobile deposit only to Members Cooperative CU”
  • Place your check on a dark flat surface and capture images of the front and back of your check (capture all corners) and select 'Use' with each image.
  • Review the information and select 'Make a Deposit'.

Note: to capture an image of your check, you will need to make sure 'Camera' is enabled for the MCCU Mobile app located in your phone settings. Deposits made to your account before 6:30 p.m. CT will generally post to your account the same business day. Deposits made to your account after 6:30 p.m. CT or on a weekend or holiday typically post to your account by 9:30 a.m. CT the following business day. Longer delays may apply in some cases depending on the type of check that you deposit and will be available after 6:00 p.m. CT the 5th business day after deposit. Checks should be kept for thirty days, in case of discrepancies. Checks that do not meet mobile deposit requirements, such as those that are not properly endorsed, will be rejected. Access is subject to the availability of the internet, cell phone network coverage and plans, and typical service interruptions stemming from your providers or the credit union providers.

Does Members Credit Union have mobile deposit?

How soon are funds available after mobile deposit?

Unless a hold is placed, deposits on a business day before cutoff time will be processed that night and are generally available the next business day.

Is mobile check deposit available immediately?

In some cases, a mobile check deposit can be available within just a few minutes of uploading the check into the mobile banking app. However, it usually takes around one business day for deposits to go through. Following instructions from the bank carefully regarding uploads can speed up the deposit timeline.

How long do I have to wait for funds to be available?

Up to two business days for on-us checks (meaning checks drawn against an account at the same bank) Up to five additional business days (totaling seven) for local checks. Longer hold periods, when the financial institution can prove a lengthier hold is reasonable.
