JONATHAN MYREN PRESENTATION

Every year the front and back cover of the MSRA Yearbook is artwork of the previous year’s Street Rod and Custom of the Year. In 2020 we were unable to have any voting events so Eric Aurand created the cover artwork for the 2021 Yearbook. The artwork takes a look back at local street rodding history with a scene from the 1967 GSTA Car Show and Jerry Johnson’s Deuce Delivery is front and center. The artwork was framed and matted by Graphic Design and donated to the MSRA Scholarship Foundation to auction off at the 2022 Back to the 50’s.

Once the bidding was over Jerry Dixey from Ohio was the winning bidder, you may recognize Jerry’s name from Street Rodder Magazine and the many Road Tours he has led. Jerry and the Road Tourians returned the artwork that he had just won, back to MSRA and said that it needed to go to someone that would appreciate the history that the artwork represented.

Anyone that knew Jerry Johnson knew that MSRA and photography were his passions. Prior to Jerry’s passing in 2015 he gave his nephew, Jonathan Myren, his last Street Rod a 1948 Chevy Roadster Pickup (as well as hundreds of photos). Jonathan has spent the last few years updating the truck and getting it back on the road with a goal of getting to drive it to this year’s Back to the 50’s. Well Jonathan and the truck made it and were seen cruising the grounds all weekend.

Once we were tasked with finding the right person to have the framed 2021 Yearbook artwork Jonathan’s name came up and it was obvious who should have the artwork. On Sunday afternoon we gathered as many Board Members as we could on short notice and presented the artwork to Jonathan. Thank you to Jerry Dixey’s Road Tourians for donating the artwork back I think it found a great new home.
