Where should i start looking to solve this problem? anybody have a clue as to whats going on with the car? your help is greatly appreciated. Join Date: Nov 2014 Posts: 2 Wow I have an '02 Civic EX coupe and I am having the same exact problems just as this post! Now mine has been replaced with two new PGM FI relays and same problems persist... What can this be? Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,023 Any time the CEL comes on -- much can likely be learned by pulling the code(s). It sounds like the crank sensor or something fundamental. The faulty relays were in 1988-1995 models. 1996 and later have a different design and a problem with the relay itself is very rare. The ECU drives the relay. Relay clicking on and off when it shouldn't is because the ECU is doing it, in response to something. Scanner reads "it cant link/connect" Thread Thread Starter Forum Last Post civicpimpinsc New Member Introductions 5 03-19-2014 01:45 PM ktorres1120 Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat 7 09-04-2013 08:07 PM rockford04 Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat 18 01-01-2009 08:58 AM saiguanas Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat 7 09-11-2008 01:02 AM rzimmer11 Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat 3 01-05-2007 01:55 AM 2003, 87, civic, click, fi, honda, honds, idle, location, main, pgm, pgmf1, pgmfi, problem, problems, relay Year of production: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 WARNING: Terminal and harness assignments for individual connectors will vary depending on vehicle equipment level,
model, and market. Where is the PGM FI relay located? The PGM-Fl main relay actually contains two individual relays. This relay is located at the left side (LHD) or right side (RHD) of the cowl. One relay is energized whenever the ignition is on which supplies the battery voltage to the ECM, power to the fuel injectors, and power for the second relay.
What causes a main relay to fail? When operated at full load, a relay is said to have failed when its contacts fail to operate (often because they weld together) or when contact material erosion results in an unacceptable high path resistance. When asked to hot switch a load, a relay may only be good for 100,000 operations.
