2013 ford f150 ecoboost turbo leaking oil passenger side

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install and worth it! *UPDATED*! Less than 500 miles!
Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2019

*Update* 12/4/19*My truck has been on heavy use this past few days due to our Yukon XL being parked from a broken water pump and with just less than 500 miles since installing the filter it has already capture quite the amount of oil!!! Posted some pics! Wow really really glad i bought this filter!Like many others, after watching the many videos about this JLT oil separator for the F-150 series and seeing how awesome it works and helps protect our engines and reading all the reviews i decided to get one for myself. The filter arrived 2 days earlier and installing it was a breeze, less than 15 mins since all the videos teach you and you already know what to do. Everything snapped in place perfectly. All that’s left to do is drive around and check every now and then what the filter has captured and preventing from going back into the engine. Nice little upgrade if you ask me, might decide to do the driver side too for full protection even thou everyone says the passenger side is where all the mess happens.

It’s simple to install and maintain. I’ve had it on for almost 15000 miles so far. I empty the can at oil changes and after hard trips pulling trailers. (It’s not full every time) I primarily got this because of the poorly designed first gen ecoboost. This helps keep oils from building up on the valves and intake system.

I've had mine for well over a year empty it monthly on my 2016 ford F150 2.7 ecoboost and let me tell you what this 3oz container fills up monthly and I have barely put a little over 14k miles on my truck in 2 years bought it used at 51k and it's now at 63k I have a lead foot but who doesn't in these trucks they are fun to drive super easy install and you won't be disappointed no more smoke out the exaust at a warm startup keeps the engine way more clean all this would be pumped right back into your engine spend the money install it and check it every week to see how much gunk YOUR truck makes shouldbe able to figure it out after about a month of checking it weekly cheers everyone

Do it. I wish I did this years ago—can’t believe how much oil comes out after only a few thousand miles.

I don't normally write reviews. That being said, if you have a 3.5 ecoboost engine, and you're on the fence about this product... buy it now. Fairly easy install, had to tap a hole into the battery box for the mount (not really a big deal). The engine cover was a bit tight to get on after the separator was installed (again, not a big deal). I took a 500 mile trip the day after install, and decided to check and see if anything was collected. I was floored at the amount of gunk that was collected in such a short trip. I probably dumped 1.5 ounces out of the catch can. Can't believe that amount was being put back into the engine, especially after only 500 miles. Wish I found out about this product earlier. A++ for quality and performance!

I was very excited to get this catch can for my truck.
First off, it showed up a day late, then when I opened the box, I saw it already fully-assembled in the box, which wouldn't have been a big deal if the contents in the bag hadn't be coated in dirt and oil. I could tell that catch can had been in another vehicle for some time. It was very dirty.
I assume somebody bought one and returned their old one or something. But this was very disappointing!

****UPDATE****
Got a replacement one. This one was actually brand new this time. Took me 10 minutes to install and it seems to be working fine so far. As many ecoboost owners know there is a shuttering problem with the first generation ecoboosts. I had drilled the weep hole, as many have suggested that, but it didn't really seem to fix it, but after installing the catch can, the shuddering problem has all but disappeared! I'm interested to see how much oil it has in it when I get home.

After two trips to work and back, (roughly 50miles) you can see how much oil this thing caught! So glad that crap didn’t get sucked into my intake!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Install!

Reviewed in Canada on June 4, 2021

Arrived on time and as described. I installed in on my 2012 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost and it was pretty simple as the quick connects fit perfectly. These catch-can solutions can be a bit pricey, but this one does seem to be working. I check it approx every 5,000 km and am amazed at the amount of oil and sludge that is captured.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product - update

Seems to be well made with clear instructions for install. It took about 15 minutes to install and looks professional. The canister seems to be weeping a little oil over time. I'll keep my eye on it and update after having it installed for longer. Would purchase again.

After a year everything is working great. No leaks. Very happy with build quality.

Took 15 minutes to install. Plug and play as advertised. This thing really works! The container collects at least 1 ounce of slop every 1000km of Hwy driving. Glad it isn’t being dumped back into my motor
