How does Klarna work?

To use Klarna with WorldRemit, simply:

• choose Klarna as your payment method when you come to pay, this may appear as SOFORT if you are using the website (don’t worry they are the same)
• you'll be taken to the Klarna Banking website, where you can choose your bank
• securely log-in to your bank, using your online banking credentials
• complete the payment directly from your online banking.

We’ll get a confirmation telling us that your payment is complete.

Yes, it’s totally secure. Through a combination of transaction monitoring, transaction verification and a dedicated anti-fraud team, it’s an entirely safe online payment method.

Will I be charged for paying with Klarna? There are never any hidden or extra fees when using WorldRemit. The total you need to pay is outlined when you create a transaction.

However, depending on the bank you use – they may charge you to make a Klarna payment. But the charges are never made by WorldRemit.

Can I pay using someone else’s Sofort account?

No. The money you send as a transfer must come from your own Klarna account. That’s because as a financially regulated company, we need to ensure that we know the identity of our customers – and this includes the source of the funds they pay with.

How long does a Klarna refund take?

If you decide to cancel a money transfer made with a Klarna payment, you can expect your refund to be credited within 4 - 6 working days. However, it may vary depending on your bank. So it’s well worth checking with your bank exactly how long it will take.

What should I do if my Klarna payment is declined?

We won’t know why your Klarna payment is declined. We wouldn’t have access to that information. And so the best thing to do is contact your bank’s payments or authorisation department. They should be able to give you more information.

What’s the difference between Klarna and e-wallets like Paypal

With Klarna you don’t have to register or establish a virtual account. You simply use your usual online banking details and selected authentication procedure. The amount you send as a money transfer goes straight from your online banking account to us.

With E-wallets you have to register and set up a virtual account, which you have to maintain and load with a credit in order to be able to make a purchase.

My SOFORT payment was not received

Sometimes, WorldRemit doesn’t receive payment for transfers paid via SOFORT due to a technical issue with this payment method. We’re working to solve this issue for our customers.

If this happens with your transfer, we’ll contact you by email to ask you for the payment. You can check your bank statement or recent payment history to see that the transfer amount wasn’t paid from your account.

We may also need to temporarily suspend your WorldRemit account until we receive the payment from you.
