Some Singers have an arrow on the throat plate to show you which way to thread the needle. You will still have to get the needle in the right direction. Power Poster Thread Starter
Join Date: Mar 2011 Location: Somewhere Posts: 15,510 Look at your needle. You will see a flat side and a rounded side at the top. Flat side toward the needle bar. At the bottom of the needle you will see a hole or eye. On one side of the hole most likely you will see a curve. On the other you will see a groove going from the eye of the needle to the rounded part at the top of the needle. Thread goes in the groovy side. 07-18-2014, 09:51 PMPower Poster Thread Starter

I did know about the arrows. Needle Flat Left – When sitting at your machine as if ready to sew, the needle should be installed with the flat side of the needle facing left.
Which way should a needle go in?Always inject towards your heart, in other words in the same direction as your blood flow. Put the needle into the vein at an angle (no more than 45 degrees) with the hole of the needle facing upwards. This helps to stop you going through the vein.
What are the parts of sewing machine needle?A sewing machine needle consists of: shank - clamped by the sewing machine's needle holder. shoulder - where the thick shank tapers down to the shaft. shaft - a length suitable for driving the eye and thread through the material and down to the bobbin.
