Las Vegas is a very pet-friendly city, with most major hotels and resorts welcoming dogs (and some welcome cats, too). You can even walk your dog on the famous Las Vegas Strip, but only between the hours of 5am and noon. When it's playtime, the city has over 20 off-leash dog parks, so there's probably one close to your hotel.

The closest dog park to the Las Vegas Strip is Western Trails Park, which is just south of McCarran International Airport. As a desert destination, pet parents should be careful during summer months, as the sidewalk, street, and other outdoor paved areas can be too hot for doggy feet for most of the day. Choose a hotel with a lot of shaded outdoor areas and green space for even midday doggy walks.

Luxury Pet-Friendly Hotels in Las Vegas

Some of the most expensive and exclusive Las Vegas resorts welcome pets. Aside from the sumptuous accommodations, many luxury hotels offer special pet amenities like play toys, pet sitting, and pet food selections on the room service menu.

1. Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas

Accommodation: Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas

The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas (located within the Mandalay Bay Resort) is a luxurious, gaming-free oasis in the heart of the Strip.

The Four Seasons is dog- and cat-friendly, for animals up to 25 pounds. There's a $75 per pet per day fee. When you check in, you'll get a pet bed and bowls in your room, and there's a separate pet room-service menu. The hotel even offers pet-sitting services if you need to leave your dog or cat alone and want them to have some companionship.

You get typical Four Seasons personal service and extremely luxurious accommodations. The rooms and suites have beautiful views of the Strip or city, and the hotel has its own exclusive pool. You also get access to the huge Mandalay Bay pool complex with its beach and mini water park.

2. Bellagio Las Vegas

Las Vegas' original luxury hotel is dog-friendly. You can have one or two dogs with you; one dog up to 40 pounds or two dogs with a combined weight of 40 pounds. There's a fee of $125 per dog, and you can't leave them unattended in guest rooms.

There are several pet relief areas outside. If you stay in the Bellagio Tower, there's an area near the north valet entrance to the hotel. If you stay in the Spa Tower, you're closer to the dog park at the Vdara resort next door. Some of the guest rooms require a long walk, which can be stressful for some animals, but you can ask at check-in for a room close to the elevators or in the Spa Tower.

3. The Mirage

Accommodation: The Mirage

This center-strip luxury hotel may best be known for its white tigers and its dolphin habitat, but dogs are also welcome. As with many Vegas pet-friendly hotels, only some rooms are designated as dog-friendly, and they must be specifically reserved in advance of arrival. There's only a limited number of those rooms, and once they're gone, you can't bring a pet.

The Mirage welcomes up to two dogs per room or suite with a combined weight up to 40 pounds. There's a fee of $125 per dog per night. Unattended dogs must be in crates.

For the ultimate in canine luxury, if you're really rich, consider renting one of the hotel's amazing villas. These are small mini-mansions with their own swimming pool and grass yard. They also come with a butler who can serve special dog meals from the room service menu.

4. Caesars Palace

Accommodation: Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace and eight other Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas resorts (Paris Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort, Flamingo Las Vegas, Bally's Las Vegas, Rio All-Suite Hotel, The Cromwell, and the LINQ Hotel) are all pet-friendly, and all offer what they call PetStay rooms.

The program at all the hotels includes in-room food mats, pee pads, and doggy dishes. Each hotel has at least one outdoor pet relief area. PetStay rooms must be specifically booked, and not all rooms are dog-friendly. You can select a PetStay room when booking online or via the phone. Pets must be present at check-in and must be crated when you're out of the room. They also must be crated during housekeeping, which can be arranged for a specific time each day. Dog crates can be rented for a fee.

Dogs must weigh 50 pounds or less, and up to two are allowed in each room. There's no specific up charge, but the PetStay rooms are priced higher than regular rooms (usually between $25 and $100 more per night). The hotels will also take an additional $100 damage deposit.

5. Delano Las Vegas

Accommodation: Delano Las Vegas

This non-smoking, all-suite luxury hotel doesn't just allow dogs, they welcome and love having them. The Delano (a hotel within a hotel at the Mandalay Bay complex) is a boutique luxury hotel offering some great amenities and specifically designed dog-friendly suites.

The hotel welcomes up to two (house-trained) dogs with a maximum combined weight of less than 100 pounds (single big dogs are welcome). A fee of $85 per dog per day is charged, and dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms unless they're in a kennel or crate. Dogs on leashes are allowed in public areas but not in restaurants, the spa, or the pool areas. Pet sitting services are available via the concierge, ranging from a simple check-up in the room to a full walk, feeding, and brushing.

The hotel has an outdoor pet relief and play area near the valet parking entrance. It's real grass but not fenced in, so you can't let dogs off-leash. You get a doggy amenity kit with snacks and treats on check-in, and there's a special doggy room-service menu filled with healthy options.

It's also a bit off the Strip, adding to the more relaxed atmosphere. It's part of the CityCenter complex, which is a giant mall and entertainment zone with restaurants, movie theaters, and other attractions.

The Vdara has special Vdog suites, which must be reserved in advance. You can bring up to two dogs with a combined weight of 70 pounds or one dog that weighs up to 70 pounds. If you're willing to stay away from the Strip (which is only a 10-minute drive), La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham is a pet-friendly budget Las Vegas hotel near the airport that gives you a lot for its budget price.

Dogs and cats are welcome (a maximum of two per room), and there is no weight limit. The hotel has special pet-friendly rooms, which must be specifically reserved in advance. There's a fee of $20 per night, with a maximum charge of $40 per stay (this same policy is in effect at most La Quinta Inn properties). Can you smoke on hotel balconies in California?

Most (if not all) hotels are non-smoking but you can smoke on balconies. (I've been in hotels when a guest has tried to have a sneaky smoke in their bathroom and set off the fire alarm - not pleasant in the middle of the night - not sure of the consequences on the naughty person).
