Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong sub, but I need help and Google has conflicting articles. Show My oil change is due at 23,000 km but all the dealerships within an hour drive of me are fully booked until early-mid December. I'm at 23something right now, scheduled for week after next. I will probably bring the car in for service closer to 24K. I'm wondering if this will do significant damage to the car? It's a 2016 Audi if it matters. Thanks in advance. 9500 miles? I think it depends on your oil and your driving habits. With full synthetic oil and highway miles, 9500 miles isn't even an issue. My oil life (which takes into account revs, speed, etc) won't even be down at 10% after 9500 straight highway miles (when the oil light turns on.) I use full synthetic extended mileage (read: extra detergents) oil. Granted, 9500 straight highway miles for me might only be 8-10 days of driving... With the cheapest dino oil and 9500 miles of bumper to bumper stop and go traffic, the engine is probably unhappy. Realistically, you're probably somewhere in the middle there. You may have shortened the engine's life down, or alternatively, shortened the time till the engine could use a bit of a rebuild. However, you (or the next owner(s)) are most likely going to junk the car before the engine pops, due to the rest of the car falling apart. The honda civic engines are well known for being fairly long-lived. There are some model years that really want their oil changed regularly, of course, but as long as you change it regularly from now on - meh. Similar to this post

What happens if you drive too long without oil change?Complete Engine Failure – If you go long enough without an oil change, it could cost you a car. Once the motor oil becomes sludge, it no longer removes heat from the engine. This can lead to a complete engine shutdown that will require a brand new engine – or a new ride – to fix.
How many miles can I go past my oil change date?Advances in engine technology over the years have made it possible for you to go 5,000 to 7,500 miles before needing an oil change. If your car uses synthetic oil, you can go for even longer between oil changes: 10,000 to 15,000 miles.
