How to factory reset samsung galaxy s7 edge when locked

Chosen Solution

You do not need to download ANY third party software or even connect your phone to computer to remove any screen lock on your phone.

You will lose all data on the phone following the steps below:

You simply turn off the phone (If you are having difficulties just hold power + volume down + home to force shut down phone). Hold volume up + power button and home button. Stop holding the power button + home button + volume up button when the Samsung logo appears and/or a blue text at the top left of the screen says booting to recovery.

Once it has booted to the Android recovery use the volume up and down keys to select / highlight a option.

Select the wipe data / factory reset option and use the power button to select this option.

Edit: If it asks for a Google and or Samsung account and password, it means the device has FRP (Factory Reset Protection) lock enabled which you can bypass using the method provided here:

http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f777/uni...

You can additionally downgrade from Android 7.0/7.1.2 Nougat back to Marshmallow 6.0.1 (IIRC maybe also 6.0).

If the method linked does not work there are plenty other methods which you will need to look around for.

If you play with it enough, it will unlock. It is a combination of a timely double click of the main button in the emergency call or ICE screen.

My 1 year unlocked my phone and she definitely doesn't know the code. I was able to duplicate what she does but not 100% sure how to explain it.

I can do it now almost everytime on my phone or anyone else's Samsung Galaxy S7. My security settings are set on the pattern and my phone is T-Mobile stock and fully updated

As a user, (not someone posing as a helpful fellow user to sell you something) this has happened a couple of times and I've done it a couple of times. Many say it cant be done or try and sell software, calling Samsung didn't even help, they make a tkt and you have to call another dept on and on. AT&T will tell you, as well as others, the phone must be reset Not true. I needed to be sure to save data. 2 ways Device manager will do it, but after you enter a password through their locate my device screen, you cant do it again, it will show a message indicating the new password isn't needed because of the password it knows from your first attempt. If you go through Samsung's website and do find my mobile, it allows you to lock a lost phone with a 4 digit pin, not password. I've used that method twice AFTER using the previous method I mentioned on Device Manager once. you have to register your phone first. obviously. but it does work, And if you didn't register your device when bought, you can now and it works. Took me a bit to find/figure it out because of all the misleading, sales ploys, etc on the net. Hope this helps!! It drove me crazy!!!

Hold down volume up and down keys, and power button at the same time. Wait about 5 seconds, a recovery screen should pop up. Use the volume down key to select factory reset-this will erase all data on the phone. Press the home key to select, your phone should start the factory reset, then automatically restart when done. It takes a few minutes for the phone to restart. Then you can go through the setup like when the phone was new.

I have a google account. I can login to both but neither provide the ability to reset your password, or unlock Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge without password. It seems both have completely feigned responsibility here, and as a result if anyone forgets their password then you are stuck. Unless you install some hacking program, which I assume compromises your phone in other ways.

Oops, sorry to hear about this.

But you don't need to worry about it. Simply Hard Reset your Samsung Galaxy S7 (this applies to all samsung phones) and it will enable Factory Reset Protection if you had signed in to Google Account on your device.

If you remember your email and password that you had used for Google Account, please enter that on your phone to remove FRP Lock.

In case you have also forgotten email and password, you will need to bypass FRP lock on Galaxy S7 phone. (this also works on all Samsung Phones)

Hold up and down the volume keys and simultaneously hold the power button. Wait about 5 seconds, there should be a recovery screen. To select factory reset, use the volume down key— this will erase all phone data. To select the home key, press the home key to start the factory reset, then restart automatically when done. It takes the phone a couple of minutes to restart. Then, as when the phone was new, you can go through the setup.
