Because sending money through Venmo is so instantaneous, you can’t cancel a payment once it’s been sent. If the person to whom you accidentally sent money is a Venmo user, you’ll have to send them a request for the amount. The only exception is that a payment can be canceled if sent to an address or phone number that’s not connected to a Venmo account.

To do this, tap the Send/request icon and search for the person’s name. Once you’ve found their name, select it and enter the amount of money you accidentally sent in the text box. Then, write a message in the “What’s it for” box explaining what happened. Tap Request followed by Confirm request to send the transaction to the other person.
