DESCRIPTIONDoes your Jeep YJ run without gas? It sure doesn’t and this is a concern for those wheeling their Jeep in rough terrain. The factory Jeep YJ gas tank skid plate does not offer the protection needed when off-roading on rocks and such. Here at Motobilt we offer a heavy duty skid plate to protect the factory plastic gas tank from trail damage. The gas tank skid plate is fabricated from heavy duty 3/16” steel plate. We laser cut and form the parts on the most advanced machines here in house in the USA. The Gas Tank Skid Plate for the Jeep YJ bolts into the factory location using the factory hold down straps and hardware. The skid plate ships welded and bare steel. You will need to paint or powder coat it the color of your choice before installing. FEATURES:

Transparency in Coverage Machine Readable File  1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality control Purchased for my 95JY.The metal was warped and the holes on the forward side were over an inch and a half off.I would have returned this product but I already had the Jeep disassembled and needed to make it work in order to get the Jeep back on the road. The good part is the metal is thick the bad part is it took a lot of force to correct the defect which required re dropping the fuel tank assembly.I added pictures of the original skid plate to demonstrate how far off the skid plate is from the original. Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2021 After reading a couple of Jeep owner's forums, I found out that the difference between a 15 gal tank and a 20 gal is some kind of something inside the tank. What that amounts to is externally a 15 gal and 20 gal are the same size. I can attest to this being true as this skid plate fit my 15gal tank perfectly. Dimensionally and by shape and design, it is exactly the same as the OEM skid plate I replaced on my '95 YJ. Hope this helps some other old Jeepers out there! Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2021 I had to replace a leaking tank, and the skid plate was rusted out so I bought the warrior product. Excellent product, only required minor manipulation to get the bolts lined up (you should expect the same). Doesn't come with hardware or straps. Straps that worked perfectly are SPECTRA PREMIUM ST 212. Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2013 I had previously purchased the Warrior diamond plate gas tank cover to match other diamond plate items I had installed on my Wrangler. However, when preparing to install the cover, I saw that the original skid plate had rusted. I had purchased the 15 gallon diamond plate cover because I have a 15 gallon tank. I started looking for a replacement for the 15 gallon skid plate and found one was not available. Because I had already purchased a 15 gallon diamond plate cover from Warrior, I contacted them for help and they wrote back saying I could use the 90710-20 gallon skid plate and the Warrior 15 gallon diamond plate cover would still fit over it. While not sure, I went ahead and purchased the above listed skid plate. Well, the engineers at Warrior were absolutely correct. The diamond plate cover I had originally purchased from Warrior slipped over the new Warrior skid plate and installed on my 1995 Wrangler with no problems! It looks great and the rust is no more! I put the front bolts in first, and then I used a pry bar to spring the back holes inward about a quarter inch to get the bolts through.
