They had taped up a corner and they said it wasn't that bad of hole. Well, it was huge spot that had to repair. I didn't think it would be hard to find a canvas repair kit as this is something I was sure to be needed by many others. Wow, I was wrong!!! All the repair kits are for general tents or just a tiny quick patch and not something very durable. This was the only Canvas Repair Kit I could find anywhere! That is scary. It does come in 2 sizes. I was going to think maybe finding a whole replacement would be easier. Nope. They all want you to ship the whole thing to them for them to make one and charge an arm and a leg. So enough about my story of why I had to purchase this. I had a large part which I had to repair so not little patches were going to work. This is a all in one kit. It comes with adhesive, nice size piece of canvas and sewing needle. First, the adhesive mending glue. Sorry, but this thing is totally useless. It is literally liquid white stuff that just slides off and was impossible to use. You put it on the item or the canvas they provide and it just runs off and gets everywhere. Also, when it dries, it just turned into a soft rubber that wouldn't stick to anything so just peeled off or rubbed off. Was not happy with the glue at all. Now, the glue did barely hold the piece in place so I could use the needle and thread to put in place. That was the saving grace. I checked an online video to verify on how to use the Awl Needle and verify I was reading the instructions right. It is time consuming but worth it. There was no way the glue was going to hold a patch in place and be strong. As you can see in my pic, I think I did a good job sewing the area for my first attempt, no practice run. My other complaint is you only have 1 choice of color, light tan. It would be nice to have a few color options like some of the small patches come in. So overall, I am happy with the repair kit as it did the job and came out good and would use again. Just the limit of 1 color and poor glue quality is only downside.
How much does it cost to rescreen a popThe cost of replacing all of the canvas on standard pop-up campers will usually run between $1000-2000. On top of that cost, you can expect another $300-500 for a professional installation. Depending on the damage or overall quality of the canvas you have, you may not need to replace all of the sections.
How do I fix a leak in my popThe best temporary fix is to apply a layer of Flex Seal, waterproof Gorilla Tape, silicone, or Bondo to seal the hole and stop the leak. Ensure the surface area that you're applying the sealant to is dry so that the tape, silicone, or Bondo will adhere to it.
Can you replace the canvas on a popThere are a range of canvas repair kits available on the market that come complete with everything you'll need to fix your camper yourself at home.
