Letters of Recommendation

November 20, 2009

 To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of Michelle Tononi, a junior at L’Anse Creuse High School in Harrison Township.  I am the Varsity Softball Coach at L’Anse Creuse and Michelle is a member of the team.  I have known Michelle for three years and have watched her grow as a person and an athlete.

Michelle is a goal oriented, dedicated and self motivated individual.  Her work ethic is outstanding. She rises to the occasion and is at her best when her best is needed.  Her competitive nature makes her an outstanding performer under pressure. She also displays sportsmanship at all times and is an excellent role model.  Michelle is a tremendous leader and understands the importance of leading by example.  She is well respected by her teammates and is extremely unselfish.  She is a two year letter winner in softball and was the starting shortstop on the varsity as a freshman. She works very hard as a pitcher because our program needs her to play this position to have the best opportunity to be successful. Her willingness to do this is an example of her unselfishness and commitment to her team. She was an All-Macomb County Honorable Mention player as a freshman, has been an All –League selection and was the team’s offensive MVP. She is a well-rounded individual with multiple interests and is highly successful in all the things she does.  Michelle is well disciplined, courteous, responsible and extremely reliable.

As an educator and coach I believe Michelle epitomizes what a student/athlete should be.  She possesses the qualities necessary to excel in college and in her future career.  I give her my highest recommendation with no reservations.

Sincerely,

 Lisa A. Downey

Dear Coach,

My name is Jeff Damore, owner of Spring Training Softball Complex in Chesterfield, Michigan and founder of Vengeance Fastpitch. This letter is in regards to Ms. Michelle Tononi.  She is a junior at L'anse Creuse (Lancers) this year, and she plays for our 16U Vengeance Fastpitch team.  She is our most decorated player in our program.  I've had the pleasure of knowing Michelle for 3 years now and can't wait to see her play college ball!  As her coach, instructor, and mentor, I encourage you to take a look at her abilities and compare them to any player you may have interest in.  As a former college/pro player myself, I don't run across many female players that possess her talent.  When I met Michelle a few years back, I saw a young 13 year old that was well beyond her years back then, and is the same way, even better at 16.

I use Michelle as an example to each and every player that comes to me for training; not only her hitting technique, but her intensity and aggressiveness at the plate.  She almost single-handedly won us a State Championship in '08 before breaking her humerus in a collision at 2B while she was attempting to tag out a player as she was attempting to steal the base.  This injury cost her sophomore season last year (H/S), and after spending almost every day getting back into playing shape, she is an even better player now than then.  I believe her injury, now fully healed, did wonders for her head.  After being forced to re-hab her injury last summer, she came back in the fall and was amazing.  I am expecting some great things from her this year!

Please feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions about Michelle, I would love to talk to you.

Sincerely,

Jeff Damore

Dear Coach,

I am writing in reference to Michelle Tononi.

I have known Michelle for approximately 3 years.  The first two years were as a fan watching from the bleachers, but now, I have the pleasure of being one of her coaches.  I was thinking of words to describe Michelle to you so you would have the chance to know the young woman I know.  Words like determination, persistence, athletic, focused, driven, and hard-worker.  These are words to describe a young lady who has faced adversity head on and beat it, to come out victorious.  You will see her skills as an outstanding softball player in her video or live on the field.  I want you to know the things you cannot see; the things inside of her that make her the great player she is.  Of the words I mentioned above there is one I did not mention; heart.  You can teach many things but you can’t teach heart.  You either have it or you don’t.  Michelle has it.  She has the heart of an athlete, a heart for her teammates, and a heart for the game.

It has been my pleasure to watch Michelle grow these last few years not only as a player but as a leader on and off the field.  If you are looking for a player who doesn’t know how to quit or what giving up is; Michelle is the player for you.  If you are looking for someone who will give you 110% everyday, day in and day out; Michelle is the player for you.  She is someone who will not only add to your program but make it even better.  I know Michelle has what it takes to be one of the small percentages of young women who play at the college level; I hope that you will consider her for your program.  Feel free to contact me if you have further questions about Michelle, I would be glad to speak to you any time.  Thank you for taking the time to read my recommendation and to consider Michelle Tononi for your program.

 Sincerely,

 Coach Jon Waters                                                                                                             VENGEANCE Fastpitch
