Driver license offices are located throughout the state and offer services by appointment only. Same day appointments may be available at select driver license offices. Texas Department of Public Safety Drivers’ License Office only does transactions: between the hours of 8:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. and only scheduled driving appointments between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.

Effective September 1, 2015.

The Department of Public Safety will no longer issue both a Drivers’ License and Identification Card to an individual. Applicants holding both a Drivers’ License and Identification Card must surrender either the Drivers’ License or Identification Card at the time of the transaction.

Proof of social security (or DL13 Affidavit) is required for all Identification Card and Drivers’ License issuances.This includes all original, renewal and replacement transactions.

All driver license and identification card services including drive tests are by appointment only*.

How do I contact Texas drivers license office?
