What happens if i restore my iphone to factory settings

Apple’s iPhone interface is beautifully intuitive, handling such things as text messages and voicemail very effectively. It also has the capacity to work effortlessly with complex applications. This makes it a very attractive option for many businesses. There are times, however, when you may find it necessary to reset your iPhone. It may be behaving erratically (very rarely) or, you may simply want to sell it. Resetting your iPhone basically erases all of your personal information from the phone. The factory settings will, however, be retained. It’s a straightforward and no iPhone reset code is required.

Process for Resetting an iPhone

It is important that, before you begin the process of resetting your iPhone, you perform a “sync” with your PC or your iCloud account in order to protect your data. You should plug your iPhone to a power source using the charger so you don’t run out of battery power midway. The iPhone will be reset through the “Settings” app. Once you open the app, tap the “General” button and the iPhone will provide you with a long list of options. The “Reset” option is sitting right there at the bottom. Once you tap it, you will see a list of reset operations you could carry out. If you would like to completely reset your iPhone, click on the second option, which is labeled “Erase All Content and Settings,” then click on “Erase iPhone.” Once you have initiated the process, leave the phone alone and do not interfere with it for the duration of the process. It can take anything from a couple of minutes to more than an hour. Once all the data has been erased, the iPhone will restart itself.

 Your Personal Data

Once you have reset your iPhone, any apps you've installed, as well as your contacts, appointments, notes, and any other personal data, will disappear. The iPhone will be as good as new as far as its software is concerned. If you were performing the reset so that you could then sell your iPhone, you can be certain that not a single bit of your personal information is stored in your phone.

The Factory Software Is Not Erased

The reset operation will not remove the original iOS software that was installed by Apple on the iPhone most recently. This includes all upgrades you downloaded. The iOS is crucial to the functioning of the iPhone, as the device won’t be able to turn itself on or connect to a cell phone carrier without it. There are also apps that were factory installed, such as the calendar, the camera, and the phone. These will not be deleted. But any records contained in them will be deleted.

Jailbreaking an iPhone

Once you jailbreak your iPhone, the warranty is voided. Many users still prefer to install jailbreak software as it enables them to access apps that they can’t get via the App Store. Once you reset your iPhone, any jailbreak software will be erased and you will have to reinstall it after the jailbreak.

Backing up Your Data

Any data you copied to your iCloud account or your PC during the sync operation will be saved when you reset your iPhone. Your apps and data will be reloaded into your phone when you get another iPhone, bringing everything familiar back. If you failed to perform the sync, then any data added to your phone after the last sync will be lost. You may have to rebuild your personal information, such as contacts and calendar information by hand.

Reset all Settings iPhone

There are other reset options available, apart from “Erase all Content and Settings”. One of these is “Reset all Settings iPhone,” which will keep your personal data and your apps but will reset network settings and personal preferences. The “Reset Network Settings” option will remove all WiFi network information on your phone, including passwords you use to connect. The “Reset Location Warnings” option will cause all your apps to ask for your permission before they can access data on your location. Finally, the “Reset Keyboard Dictionary” setting will remove the record of your responses to typo warnings on your iPhone.

  • To reset your iPhone and wipe all data, tap "Erase All Content and Settings" in the Settings app.
  • Before resetting your iPhone, make sure you back it up to iCloud and sign out of your Apple ID.
  • After you reset your iPhone, you can restore it with your backup to retrieve data.

If you're experiencing issues with your iPhone, like if it's freezing or glitching, resetting the device to its factory settings may solve the problem. Or, if you're selling or giving away your iPhone, you'll want to reset it so all your personal information is wiped from the device.

Resetting your iPhone to its factory settings will take it back to the basics it came with: no contacts, playlists, pictures, password memory, or anything else you've added since the day you bought it.

But before you begin the process of resetting your iPhone, it's important to back up all your data so you don't lose your important information. After your iPhone has been reset, you can then restore it with your backup.

Here's how to factory reset your iPhone with or without a password and make sure your data is backed up.
