Re: Oil type: 5W-30 or 10W-30 5W30 is really only necessary if you (actually your car) experiences subzero temperatures. For climates such as CA and FL, year-round summer, 10W30 is best. I've noticed the manual also recommends 10W40 but I don't know anyone who's used this yet.

Depends on what temperatures the vehicle will be operated in. Join Date: May 2017 Location: Southeast Posts: 375 FSM says 5w-30. I've used 5w-30 for 15 years + an additive. Works for me in NC. The viscosity is only different in cold temps, but when the motor is up to temp, everything should be the same. I used 5w20 in my G for what seemed like forever in CA. If I remember correctly, you are better with a 40 weight when your motor has high mileage. Last edited by dofu; 10-23-2018 at 09:05 PM. Join Date: Nov 2016 Location: La Posts: 754 I

I thought I bought Pennzoil full synthetic 10w30 but I grabbed 5w20 by mistake. Now oil is already drained from the car.. Do you guys think it's okay to use? Or should I get a ride and go switch it out for 10w30..
