Which crest white strips are the best reddit

Whitening strips don't work for me, (I've used many Crest Whitestrips and been disappointed) so I asked my own dentists and a few other area dentists about pro whitening.

I ended up doing it professionally and it looks great, but I want paper, fake looking white, and I'm not there. They sold me some trays and told me they would get me there within a week, which turned out to be untrue. I will go back for a second professional whitening a month or so before the wedding since overall the experience was positive.

My teeth are not that yellow, I don't have staining or anything. I think on the universal tooth scale thingy they were a C something and are now a B something? Regular strength whitening just does not work for some people. I'm jealous of the people who can use a few Crest Whitestrips and have white teeth for years. You are so, so lucky.

Edit: Oh, and Crest Whitestrips also hurt my gums! But I used them anyway because I really wanted white teeth. My regular dentist told me pro whitening is two times stronger than white strips, so it would hurt twice as much. This is not true! If you do go pro, don't be afraid to "shop around" for someone knowledgeable and experienced!

Edit 2: Oh my god, this turned into my own rant-fest about teeth.

I didn't know what subreddit to post this in, and I really wanted to rave about them.

I tried a Whitening Lightening UV kit, whitening toothpaste, and a lot of other things, and none really worked. I literally put these on for one hour one night and holy ish! Took the stains right off. Now I'm on the fourth day, which is the last whitestrips set in the box, and my teeth look freaking amazing. You're only supposed to use two boxes a year so I thought I would use one box right before school starts and one box right before winter break ends every year, or maybe half a box every 3 months.

This is so awesome and they were so cheap for the results they gave. I think if you're going to get whitestrips definitely get this kind because a lot of the other Crest whitestrips don't stick well at all and are really uncomfortable and don't work as well. These don't budge and aren't bothersome. I could definitely sleep in them (even though it says not to, I guess I'm a rebel).

So I bought one of these kits off of Amazon and it comes with 14 treatments.

The box advises to use two kits per year

Also says that each treatment should be once per day for 30 minutes.

For those who are experienced with these strips, my question really is, if I have 14 treatment, should I use the kit for the next 2 weeks every day for 30 minutes or would that be too much to bare on my teeth and instead I should do only 2-3 treatments per week taking a day or two brake in between?

Also once I have used up the 14 treatments, when should I buy another kit? Or should 1 kit be enough for a good couple of years?

Dental hygienist here. I always tell my patients who are interested in whitening to start with the Crest white strips. If you do not like the results, then feel free to go down the route of what your dental office offers. Note that not all offices do the in office whitening with the light. I did the zoom whitening (with the light) back when I was a teenager, and it definitely caused extra sensitivity back then. Some offices only offer take home trays that are professional grade, as opposed to OTC. There are professional grade Crest white strips you can purchase from a dentist that are stronger than ones you can find in a store, for example.

I have used white strips in the past, myself. I’d definitely recommend using a toothpaste for sensitivity a couple weeks prior and continue to use it throughout your whitening, and use the strips as directed (it depends on which type you get). Make sure you brush and floss before using the strips each time, and, while whitening, try to avoid heavily stained foods/liquids (i.e. coffee, tea, wine, blackberries, etc). Your teeth are porous at a microscopic level!

Some people have darker teeth than others naturally, as well as some people’s teeth stain more easily than others. Do not overdo whitening on your teeth, as it can make the enamel brittle in time. Back in hygiene school, nearly all of my professors were completely against whitening, because super white teeth do not necessarily equate to healthy teeth.

When you do the strips, follow the instructions. If you notice your teeth are where you would like them earlier on than the supply you were given in the kit and you are happy with them, feel free to stop and use the extras to touch up at a later time. Also, make sure to keep up with your oral hygiene after whitening, as well! Good luck to you!

Forget those ones, they're weak. You want the Crest Supreme Whitestrips, much higher content of peroxide. If you really want to see a difference, you'll need to do about half a course of those which I think is 42 strips.

level 2

I used them a few years ago. My sister thought I was lying when I told her I used strips, and didn't get them professionally cleaned.

Switching to the whitening toothpaste and mouthwash makes a huge difference too. Be careful not running too many strips at a time, it can cause your mouth and gums to ache. Not a little ache either, like you won't want to talk or eat anything for a while. Also if you are a coffee or tea drinker, drink through a straw, it doesn't help with the whitening but it does help to have less stains to have to whiten. My mom had me start doing that a few years ago, and I get compliments on my smile all the time

Go this route OP - I had way more strips than 5 and had pretty great results

level 1

You're not supposed to use them all at once.

level 2

Yo /u/draikin3 did you for real use them all at once one right after the other?

I understand completely the desire to look "better" but does anyone else not trust people with perfectly white teeth?

level 2

I sometimes feel like they look like Chiclets. also i am pretty sure healthy teeth are supposed to be off white something about enamel colour. but don't quote me i am not a dentist and I have a terrible memory.

level 2

Yeah, I'm put off by people with perfectly white teeth.

level 2

Maybe not trust but they do scare me a little...Paula Deen especially.

Throw them in the trash and get yourself a bag of activated charcoal. I used it for the first time last weekend and immediately noticed a tiny tint change, and it's safer for enamel than any of those whitening products. Bonus points for being a multi-purpose product that you can make into face cleanser, or take orally for gas relief (according to the interwebs).

level 2

Isn't that like medieval tooth paste?

level 2

how would one go about this?

level 2

There's charcoal products just for teeth whitening, amazon has quite a few options.

Baking soda also works well. I've had people comment on how white my teeth are when using it every day.

Nowadays, entry-level products tend to be coated with a 10% H2O2 concentration whitener (Crest Whitestrips® Vivid and Advanced Vivid).
