5.0 out of 5 stars Despite the poor reviews this actually turned out to be pretty good

The poor reviews had me hesitant at first but the unit itself did not disappoint. I installed this unit in 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with navigation, factory backup camera & premium sounds system.1. The head unit has a “mirror link” function which in my words are the “cheap” version of Apple CarPlay and android auto so i purchased the CarPlay dongle for $50 and that eliminated that issue2. Although it is plug and play, there are some wiring you’ll need to do to get the factory camera to work. Had to cut brown trigger wire for the backup camera closer to the can bus module. Then tapped the brown wire ( pin 14) to the white wire (its near the backup camera video input wire) of the main harness that connects to the vehicles harness (2 in 1 connector). Once i did this the camera worked flawlessly.3. There are 2 sets of RCA cables coming from the main harness (2 in 1 connector) you have to connect 1 set to AUX in L & R coming from the back of the head unit & the other set to the other pair of white & red female connectors from the back of the radio. If these connections aren’t properly made, the head unit will have no sound.4. This model Santa Fe didn’t have the independent screen for climate controls so i was worried the head unit wouldn’t be able to recognize them but i was wrong. The head unit displays the air controls once you press any button pertaining to the HVAC.4. For the CarPlay dongle, you’ll have to either connect the head unit to WiFi to download the install file from the website or you can add it to a flash drive and install it from there. Pretty simple.5. The trim kit came with the incorrect screw sizes but that was a minor fix. I was only able to use the ones provided for attaching the head unit to the brackets that holds it into the entire trim & 2 for the pocket at the bottom.Overall I am most definitely satisfied. The fitment is beautiful, very minor splicing since it’s mostly plug and play. I also didn’t have to configure the CAN BUS, it was preselected in my case but overall A+. The wiring diagram & user manual were slightly helpful but you definitely will not find all the answers there. Can’t beat it for the price. Steering wheel controls worked fine also. Hope this helps!

How I ended up with this head unit:
I bought a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate.
The factory head unit / nav was forever stuck on the dreaded BlueLink loading screen.
Took vehicle to the dealership, head unit needs to be replaced. But the head unit is discontinued (wow).
Took vehicle to local stereo shop - nobody makes the trim kit to fit most aftermarket stereos to the Santa Fe Limited Ultimate trim level.
Last resort was to spend $1,000+ to send the original head unit back to a reprogramming specialist and be without a radio and climate controls for 1-2 months.

Instead I found this unit on Amazon. Thought it was too good to be true but it WORKS! I was leery of the negative reviews, but thankfully an installer took the time to write a review on this. He proved it would work and provided helpful photos and videos. He even wrote up some helpful tips on the install (which wires to splice, etc.) that I was able to pass along to the installers at my local stereo shop. I can't attest to the ease of installation but the installers did say it was not quite plug-and-play.

Everything just works: The steering wheel controls, the on-screen climate control displays, backup camera, Bluetooth, nav, etc. This is such a relief because I was running out of other options. This unit was a great deal for the price and does everything I need. I did not set up Apple Car Play or anything video-related.

I had to dig into the settings to get some things to work properly, like manually increasing the volume output from the amp. Also, the climate temps display in Celsius, not Fahrenheit (still working on that part) but otherwise I am so thankful to have a head unit that works in my car now. There is also a slight problem where incoming Bluetooth calls have low volume, even with the volume turned up all the way on the unit and on the paired phone.

All in all, fanastic unit for the price and a much-appreciated replacement to the dreaded BlueLink system in my Hyundai.

Super easy to install with included adapters and harnesses. Everything functions great aside from the system being very slow to respond to touches. Also, Android auto with the adapter purchased separate is very finicky with poor graphics. Can't answer calls half the time unless on Bluetooth and audio constantly pauses and doesn't resume when using Google maps. Overall it's ok, I'm sure as we play with it more we can get it to function better. Sound quality is great after playing with EQ and smart bass settings though.

I like the size of the screen and the sound quality isn't bad. My issue that it is an android device and still needs a wired dongle in order to use Android Auto. In addition to that it claims that it can load ALL apps just like a cell phone and that is not true. There are apps that the head unit is not compatible with. And even going to the app website for different versions doesn't work. So because of that it falls a little short.
