Please call our office if you have any questions. How long after tooth extraction Do I need to rinse with salt water?A teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water gently rinsed around the socket twice a day can help to clean and heal the area. Keep this up for at least a week or for as long as your dentist tells you. It is important to keep to a healthy diet; and take a Vitamin C supplement, which will help your mouth to heal.
Will rinsing with salt water cause dry socket? We recommend a gentle salt water rinse to clean the area that is healing and prevent food from getting caught. The salt water promotes healing and reduces the risk of complications. Be careful to use gentle swishing motions. Too much force while swishing the salt water could irritate and possibly lead to a dry socket.
How do you rinse with salt water after extraction?Making a mouth rinse is incredibly easy — simply add about a teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water, then stir until dissolved. To use, lightly swish the solution around in your mouth for 30 seconds. Spit it out gently, taking care not to dislodge the blood clot that's formed over the extraction site.
How do you clean wisdom teeth holes?Fill the syringe with warm water. Retract your cheek using your finger. Direct the tip of the syringe over the top of the socket (not inside the socket). Flush the socket, swish the warm salt water in your mouth, then spit out.
