Blue cross blue shield community health plan provider finder

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) STAR member, you can find many network providers in the Travis service area. You have a wide choice of primary care providers, specialists, hospitals and pharmacies.

You should use in-network providers. If you choose to see a doctor who is not part of our network, you may have to pay for the services. Except in an emergency, the plan may not cover care received from out-of-network providers. Check with the provider to make sure that he or she is in the network before you get care. See Out-of-Network Coverage for more information.

You also must choose a primary care physician (PCP) from the Provider Network when you join. You can choose a different PCP for each member. A PCP is your main health care provider and will arrange your care with other doctors and hospitals. Your PCP can be a:

  • Pediatrician
  • Family or General Practitioner
  • Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN)
  • Internist (Internal Medicine)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Clinic such as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or Rural Health Clinics (RHCs)

You can call customer service for help choosing a PCP or use the Provider Finder®.

The Provider Finder® makes it easy to find a doctor or hospital in your area. Select the link below to open a new browser window and search for STAR providers. When you're done, close that window and keep viewing this site.

Our Services

Blue cross blue shield community health plan provider finder

The Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) companies take what they learn from covering more than one in three Americans and use that knowledge to improve our healthcare system, and the health and wellness of our local communities. By living and working in the communities we serve, we gain an understanding of how to meet those needs. BCBS companies also invest in local health programs and partnerships with doctors and hospitals in an ongoing effort to improve healthcare in communities nationwide.

Understanding Local Healthcare Needs

Many factors contribute to a community’s health: access to nutritious foods, availability of quality doctors and hospitals and the underlying prevalence of disease. Through decades of community involvement, Blue Cross Blue Shield companies have gained the insights to tailor healthcare programs to meet the unique needs of their members.

Partnerships in All 50 States

Blue Cross Blue Shield companies were developed as solutions to meet their local communities’ healthcare needs. A long history of local commitment has helped BCBS build partnerships with doctors and hospitals in all 50 states. This unrivaled local presence and collaborative spirit led 96 percent of hospitals and 93 percent of physicians to partner with BCBS across America.

Investing in Better Health

Every year, Blue Cross Blue Shield companies make investments to meet the most pressing healthcare challenges communities face: how to expand access to care, enable healthier living and improve healthcare quality and affordability. Our resources support organizations and programs that promote healthier living through fitness and nutrition, positive patient-physician relationships and medical research, especially in medically underserved areas. BCBS employees also give back to the community through volunteering. At every level, we make an impact on healthcare.

Improving Healthcare through Insights

BCBS companies use the insights we gain from covering 1 in 3 Americans to help doctors, hospitals, employers, and individuals make better-informed decisions about healthcare. Our information capability allows us to assess healthcare across America, identifying the procedures and practices that help people get healthy faster and stay healthy longer. We share our knowledge through such communications as the Health of America Reports, providing value to those we serve and improving healthcare quality and affordability for all Americans: community by community, nationwide.
