Welcome to the Texarkana Texas Vital Statistics Office

This office provides birth and death records as a service for our residents. Customers can drop-off an application, mail-in an application, or order online at  https://www.dshs.texas.gov/vs/. For applications that are dropped off, staff will call when the certificate is ready for pick-up.

If you have any questions, call the Vital Statistics office at (903) 798.3910 and staff will be happy to assist. Information and application packets are available at City Hall.

To obtain a same-day short form Texas birth certificate in-person, please visit the Bowie County Clerk’s Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday at 710 James Bowie Dr. New Boston, Texas. This office is closed each weekday from noon to 1:00 p.m.

About Us

City of Dallas Vital Statistics maintains records of births, deaths, and fetal deaths that occur within the incorporated city limits of Dallas.  Our core functions include records retention, serving as a liason to the state, funeral home relations, and providing birth and death certificates to the general public. Long form birth certificates and death certificates are available from April 1983 to present ONLY for events that occurred within the incorporated city limits of Dallas.  Abstract (short form) birth certificates are available for births that occurred in the State of Texas from 1926 to present.

    How do I find a birth or death record in Texas?

    A verification letter indicates if a birth or death is on file in Texas. The record, if available, will include the name, date of birth or death, and county of birth or death. Many forms of ID qualify for ordering vital records. Payment methods vary based on order request (online, by mail or in-person).
